It revolves around the archer hero, Hou Yi, and his courageous act to save the earth from a devastating catastrophe.
According to the myth, there were originally ten suns in the sky, each taking turns to illuminate the earth. However, the suns grew restless and began to appear in the sky simultaneously, scorching the earth and causing widespread devastation. Crops withered, rivers dried up, and life on earth faced the threat of extinction due to the unbearable heat.
Witnessing the suffering of humanity, Hou Yi took it upon himself to restore balance to the world. Armed with his bow and arrows, he ascended to the top of Kunlun Mountain, the mythical home of the gods. From there, he took aim at the suns and began shooting them down, one by one, until only one sun remained in the sky.
Hou Yi's heroic act saved the earth from the scorching heat and ensured the survival of humanity. His skillful archery and selfless sacrifice earned him the gratitude and admiration of the people, who revered him as a savior and protector.
The legend of Hou Yi and the Ten Suns is often interpreted as a metaphor for the cyclical nature of time and the importance of balance in the world. It also underscores the virtues of courage, selflessness, and sacrifice in the face of adversity.
