Osiris, the god of the afterlife, ruled over Egypt with his wife Isis. However, his brother Set grew jealous of Osiris's power and plotted to usurp him. Set tricked Osiris into entering a coffin, which he then sealed shut and threw into the Nile River, drowning Osiris.
Isis, devastated by the loss of her husband, embarked on a quest to find his body. She searched tirelessly and eventually discovered Osiris's coffin trapped in a tamarisk tree in Byblos, Phoenicia. Isis brought Osiris's body back to Egypt and hid it in the marshes for safekeeping.
With her magic, Isis was able to temporarily resurrect Osiris, and they conceived a son, Horus. However, Osiris could not remain in the realm of the living permanently, and he eventually descended to the underworld to rule as the god of the dead.
Isis continued to protect and honor Osiris in death, becoming a powerful deity associated with resurrection and rebirth. She was revered as the goddess of magic and motherhood, symbolizing the eternal cycle of life, death, and renewal.
